Independent Summer Residency/Independent Studio Program

The Independent Summer Residency (ISR)


Toronto School of Art offers a 13 week summer residency program.  From May 3 to July 31, 2010 an independent studio residency will be available for 6 people.  The program is designed for practicing professional artists who have completed their formal training.

 

The program provides:


- 24 hour access to a semi-private studio with five other artists

- Group meetings;

- Critiques and/ or workshop from 2 TSA faculty artists;

- Critiques from invited outside guest artist –including one artist talk;

- Access to visiting artist lectures;

- Exhibition opportunity in the TSA gallery scheduled for Sept. 9-20, 2009;

- An opportunity to work uninterrupted in a Toronto downtown studio;

- Access to a one-week intensive course at TSA

 

Tuition fees: $ 2500

International Tuition fees: $ 3000

 

No accommodation provided however TSA can recommend a number of affordable places within the vicinity.

 

Eligibility:

This program is designed for practicing professional artists who have completed their formal training.  Admission to the residency is based on a review of images by a committee of Toronto School of Art faculty members.

$50.00 non-refundable fee- Canadian funds only

 

 

The Independent Studio Program (ISP)


The ISP program runs annually from September 2010 to April 2011.


The program provides:

  • 24 hour access to a semi-private studio shared with five other artists
  • Access to an individual advisor, group critiques and other meetings
  • Participation in two annual exhibitions
  • Written critical feedback
  • Access to visiting artist lectures
  • Artist talk presentation
  • Access to one TSA course per term
  • Program certificate upon successful completion

Fees
ISP tuitionfee:$4200
ISP Internationalstudentfee:$6300
Students maybe eligible for OSAP (Ontario Student Assistance Program) funding (ISP only). Other granting programs may also apply.


Applicants must submit:
• Letter of Intent

• Artist Statement (maximum 250 words)

• CD with 10 digital images, (res. 72 dpi, max. of 1024x768 pixel)
• Video submissions - Maximum 10 one minute video submissions (DVD)

• Label each image with a number and title (01InitialsTitle.jpg - 10InitialsTitle.jpg) and include a corresponding image list separately
• C.V.
• Two reference letters
• Government-issued photo identification (passport, citizenship card or driver's license
